63 Getaway is close to lots of great things! Most people will focus on the National Forest and Mt. Evans Wilderness and numerous trailheads close by. Others may just want to come up and relax on the deck or in the hot tub. In the fall of the year thousands of visitors flock to the mountains to view the spectacular vistas of golden aspens that blanket the nearby hillsides. We certainly have our share right here and there are easy drives to see more. We are especially close to the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway which is very well known for its scenery and aspen.

Then again, you just may never want to leave the comfort of your own private lodging facilities with a spectacular view of Mt. Logan!
Hiking and wildlife and wild flower viewing are available right outside your door. In 30 seconds you are in Pike National Forest. You can hike 20 minutes or drive 10 minutes to a trailhead into Mt Evans Wilderness. There are numerous other National Forest trailheads close by.

Geocaching is also an activity that some of our guests enjoy with several caches nearby.

Restaurants and other activities around Bailey and Conifer...

Bailey is small town about 45 minutes from Denver. It is definitely rural but it has several nice restaurants, an Ace Hardware store with a lumber yard (Moore Lumber,) a liquor store, a Post Office, a laundromat, and a gas station/convenience store. The Knotty Pine Gift Shop serves limited fast food and is a quaint place that is the gathering spot for the local "old-timers." Bailey is 20 minutes from 63 Getaway.

Conifer is about midway between Bailey and Denver. It is 30 minutes from 63 Getaway. It is considerably more upscale and has numerous restaurants, a King Soopers (Kroger) grocery store and one of the newest, fanciest and busiest Safeway grocery stores in the US.

Bailey Area Restaurants:

The CutThroat Cafe is great for American cuisine. A nice quaint atmosphere with good food for any appetite. Service is very fast and the prices are very reasonable! A trout fishing theme, but not a fish dish to be found on the menu. Across from the Chinese Village Restaurant.

The Coney Island Originally located on West Colfax in Denver, then in Aspen Park for a number of years and now just west of Bailey. One of the few places where you can eat a hot dog inside of a hot dog.

Hog Heaven has take out or offers dine-in. Wonderful BBQ pork, beef, brats & great side dishes. (We normally get a pound of pork & BBQ sauce to bring home and eat on "grocery store bought" hamburger buns.)

If you like Chinese, you'll find great food at the Chinese Village Restaurant! Turn right immediately at the bottom of Crow Hill going into Bailey. Across from the Cutthroat Cafe.

Restaurants within 30-40 minutes:

The Buck Snort Saloon A place not to be missed, if only for the drive and the spectacular scenery of Sphinx Park!!! (Go in daylight for the best viewing.) (Phone: 303-838-0284 to make sure they are open.) The Buck Snort is 22.9 miles from 63 Getaway. Go out to US285. Turn left towards Denver. Go 4 miles to the first stoplight at Pine Junction. Turn right (south) on CO-126/ S Pine Valley Road. Go 6.3 miles into the little town of Pine/Pine Grove and turn left onto W 4th St. (There may be a sign for the Buck Snort and/or Sphinx Park.) Turn right onto S Elk Creek Road. Go 1.4 miles to The Buck Snort on the left at 15921 S Elk Creek Road. Burgers, BBQ, and mountain atmosphere!

The Angry Llama Diner is one of the newest additions to our dining choices! It is staffed by church volunteers and offers good food at good prices. And the proceeds go back to the Community!! It is basically a spacious fast food restaurant. On US285 a mile or so west(south) of Conifer in a huge building on the north side of US 285 (at Milepost 234.) Phone: 303-838-2780 (The link is to the church which doesn't have a link to the restaurant yet but we'll help them get a page up.)

Area Activities:

Hiking: ***ASK us about our "secret" place we call "The Boulders" that is a short hiking distance behind 63 Getaway. The creek disappears beneath gigantic granite boulders that seem entirely out of place!

You are only minutes from great hiking trail heads in the Pike National Forest. You'll see those signs as you drive to 63 Getaway. We have hiked the Rosalie Trail, the Tanglewood Trail and the Meridian Trail, all close by. MORE about Hiking...

Fly Fishing on the South Platte River...Fishing: If you are a fisherman there is no doubt that you have heard of South Park. Even back in the old days, South Park fishing and hunting had reached the ears of people in distant lands. They came from as far away as England and Ireland to enjoy the plentiful bounty of the Park. South Park is the name and fishing is the game. MORE about Fishing...

Skiing: You are 1.5 hours from Breckenridge Ski Resort. Take US-285W to Fairplay, then Hwy. 9 over Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge. Breckenridge is an old mining town and it and the ski resort have plenty of summer activities.

You are also only 2 hours from Winter Park. Take US-285W East toward Denver to Conifer, turn right there to Evergreen to I-70 and follow a map from there. MORE about Skiing...
